Synopsis
This day, the Government introduced a Law that number going to replace the name of the citizens .
Ma Er，the man who only petting ants at home suddenly got arrested for no reason.
Ma was just getting up on the arrest, so he is very thirsty, but the police have asked him to truthfully tell everything of his life to get a cup of water to drink, the basic survival needs to become a forensic wrestling.
After one night, Ma was released for lack of evidence, he did not know from the end of what he committed, he only knows from today, his name has been replaced as a serial of number.
Director biography
Rex REN(REN XIA) graduates from the School of Film & Television at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, majoring in Directing. He was Fruit CHAN’s scriptwriter and assistant director before working as a Creative Team Supervisor for Andy LAU’s Infinitus Films. He won the Best Director Award with Even Ants Strive for Survival at the 11th Fresh Wave International Short Film Competition and the Gold Award at the 23rd Hong Kong Independent Short Film and Video Awards. In 2018, he won the grand prize with A Life of Papers at the Golden Horse Film Project Promotion meeting. In 2021, he received the NETPAC Award with May You Stay Forever Young at the 58th Golden Horse International Film Festival. He was nominated for Best New Director and Best Editing at the Golden Horse Award. In 2022, He received the CNC Cash Award from the Centre National du Cinéma et de L'image Animée (CNC) at the Golden Horse Film Project Promotion meeting. In 2024, He was nominated for Best Documentary Short Film with Something About Us at the 61st Golden Horse Award. He is also the founder of Equal Write Union Hong Kong and one of the co-signers of the Hong Kong Free Cinema Manifesto.
